Launching Merton's community based textiles waste reduction hub
That's right! We will be launching Merton's community textiles waste reduction hub at Canons House in Mitcham on 20 May 2023. Join us for the launch event! We would absolutely love to hear ideas from the community on how to make this a welcoming space where we all get together and reduce textile waste by innovatively and creatively reusing, repairing, repurposing and upcycling textiles.
Upcoming single use plastics ban in England
The Wheel welcomes the upcoming ban on single use plastics in England in October 2023
This will go a long way to address plastic waste and associated pollution. The ban came into effect in Scotland in June 2022. It will include a full range of items from single-use plastic plates, trays, bowls, cutlery, balloon sticks and certain types of polystyrene cups and food containers.
