About the event
Join us at our new Preloved Studio for a free community workshop in our latest instalment of Project Preloved.
In this workshop, you will learn how to create your own Tote Bag using the Morsbag pattern design. This craft project reduces textiles waste by using donated preloved fabrics, such as bed linens, that are often not accepted by charity shops. Not only that, but by creating fabric Tote Bags we remove the need for plastic carrier bags in our community and make some new sewing friends along the way!
You will be shown how to:
- use quilting rulers
- assemble the tote bag
- sew the Tote Bag using a sewing machine.
And of course, you can take your finished Tote Bag away with you to show off to your friends and family!
Meet your workshop facilitator: Michele Webster
Michele's creative journey started out as therapy approximately eight years ago. During that time, she joined the New Malden Quilters Association and learnt the basics. As her interest and confidence developed, she started exploring, experimenting, attending workshops, practicing and now shares her knowledge and skill through teaching. She is completing the two-year Master Quilter Diploma run by The Quilters' Guild of the British Isles.
"I am an enthusiast, passionate about my hobby, energetic, eager and willing to share ideas, skill and knowledge whilst piecing quilts and sewing new friendships for the future.
"What I love about sewing, is how anyone can do it – it's food for the soul!"
Visit Michele's website to see her beautiful quilting work.
