Time & Location

16 Jul 2024, 13:00 – 15:30

Canons House, 19 Madeira Rd, Mitcham CR4 4HD, UK

About the event

Intermediate to advanced sewists assemble! Bring your sewing project to our Preloved Studio in the beautiful Canons House, Mitcham, and get acquainted with our sewing machines and cutting room. We’ll have skilled volunteers on hand to share their tips and tricks and troubleshoot any sewing worries.

Registration is not needed, but we have a limited number of sewing machines. Machines can always be shared between new sewing friends so everyone can progress their projects.

Want to come along but don’t have a project in mind? We have a number of patterns available at the studio for small sewing projects that are great to practice.

Meet your Drop-In Session Leads:

Fiona Graham

Fiona has many years’ experience in the clothing and home textiles industry and has a lifelong love of sewing and making things. She worked in manufacturing, and in product development for major high street retailers. She has a wide knowledge of all garment types and sewing techniques to share!

Important Information for Drop-In Session Attendees:

These afternoon sessions are for people with intermediate to advanced sewing skills. You will have been sewing for several years and are very comfortable using a domestic sewing machine and overlocker, and confident using different types of fabrics.

This event is for adults only (18+). Sadly, we do not have the facilities to accommodate children during the sessions.

You can arrive at the Preloved Studio at any time during the session.

Sewing tools and equipment are provided by the Preloved Studio during the sessions.

Please clean and iron any of your own fabrics before you bring them to the studio to work on. Some Preloved Studio fabric scraps and remnants may be available for you to use if needed.

The Preloved Studio is made possible with the support of the Canons House and Grounds and Merton Council.
