About the event
If you're a gardener, you know the frustration of having too many plastic plant pots, while also never being able to find enough suitable ones when you need them! When communities work together to share existing resources, such as plant pots, it prevents overconsumption of items, limits waste, and avoids environmental harm caused by the creation of new plastics.
At this workshop during the Mitcham Community Orchard Action Day, we'll be exploring plastic waste in horticulture, seeing some great examples of reusing materials in this beautiful green space, and working together to create a community plastic plant pot library from reclaimed wood.
What you'll learn at this workshop:
The issues of single-use plastics in gardening products, why they are difficult to recycle.
How to reduce waste in your gardening practices.
Construction and team work skills in building the Plant Pot Library structure.
